Those present were given a tour of the plant and told about Lidea company. All participants pressed the symbolic start button, and the first bag in Lidea's new package came off the production line. This historical bag will be kept at the factory with memorable signatures of all participants of the ceremony. The plant in Pavlovsk is a complex where research, selection and production will be carried out in the territory of 100 hectares. The plant's production will be delivered to the Russian market, as well as to Belarus and Kazakhstan. THE FIRST PRODUCTION LINE IS LAUNCHED IN OUR RUSSIAN FACTORY: TANAÏS!

As part of its planned expansion on the European continent, Lidea is investing in a new seed production and packaging plant in Brăila, Romania.&nbsp; &nbsp;Within this unit, the entire processing cycle for multicrop seeds (corn, sunflower, cereals, rapeseed and soybean) will be managed, from the reception of the seeds from the farmer to their packaging.Olivier Paul, Deputy Chief Executive Officer stated: “This investment is the concrete expression of our determination to expand in Eastern Europe, in close proximity to fast-growing cereal and oilseed/protein crop production areas. Our success will depend on being ever closer to our markets and to our end customers, the farmers.”&nbsp;Romania is an important strategic market. The Brăila plant will be a logistics hub serving the Eastern and South Eastern European markets. Locally, Lidea collaborates with a network of farmers for seed multiplication to obtain varieties adapted to local soil and climatic conditions and that meet the highest European quality standards through full traceability.“Satisfying customers by meeting their quality, service and performance requirements is of paramount importance to us. LIDEA OPENS NEW SEED PRODUCTION AND PACKAGING PLANT IN BRĂILA, ROMANIA

Our company is working hard on developing the best varieties that can be used in cover crop mixes. But let me take a step back and explain first what these are. Cover crops are plants that are grown with the main purpose to cover the soil, rather than for the purpose of being harvested.These crops protect the agricultural land against erosion and nutrient losses and immobilise nitrogen in such a way that it remains available in the soil after the harvest of the main crop for the next main crop. Through soil carbon sequestration (building up the organic carbon content of the soil) and reducing emissions from fertiliser production, these cover crops are an excellent tool to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and enhance climate change mitigation. As such they are contributing to the EU’s ambitions to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.We know that 20% of the global budget of the CAP 2023 will be used for greening, so countries will be more inclined to sow cover crops. And innovation through seeds is fundamental to support this transition to new forms of agriculture, in line with the “European Green Deal”.From our side, I am happy to say that Lidea has been working hard to develop products for this expanding and emerging market. For several years, farmers have confronted with difficult weather conditions during key periods of corn cropping. One period in particular needs special attention: flowering. For this key stage LIDEA innovates with HI CORN. It’s a combination of two hybrids with complementary precocity to increase the number of days for pollination and thus reduce the risk of hot weather affecting the viability of the pollen. The big advantage for the farmers is that with more pollen, we are able to guarantee a better fertilisation. And this means more grain per hectare and as a result, more yield per hectare.But it is not just at flowering where we need to protect the plant. Another sensitive period for maize cultivation is the emergence of the seedling. Difficult conditions, cold, rain, and pests, like insects and birds at the beginning of the cycle, very often have a big impact on the number of plants per hectare. Many farmers in Europe know that a good performance in this critical stage could have an impact on the success of the crop. It is the first component of yield! Our new product BOOST &amp; GO is an association of four cumulative action modes, operating at different times to preserve the genetic potential during early stages.The first mode is crop protection, where we want to help the plant against the main pests. We’ve included Redigo against fungi, Poncho against insects, and Korit against birds.The second mode of action is related to a proper provision of the right nutrients. In BOOST &amp; GO, we have added a combination of essential nutrients for the early stages of corn growth. In this way, we are boosting emergence.Then there is the biostimulant mode of action. This was added to the mix to support the development of the plant. It is safe to say that we consider a good protein content as essential in order to grab this important opportunity in wheat production.We should not forget that the protein content is a common and determining criterion in the wheat quality classes of the different European countries. In addition, the protein content is also essential when exporting European wheat. In fact, a minimum level of protein is required in the specifications of our main importing countries.The other axis of the Lidea wheat selection process is a high resistance to diseases, in particular, a good tolerance to Fusarium. We focus heavily on diseases resistance, on the one hand to limit inputs such as crop protection products, and on the other hand to ensure a quality harvest, a regularity and a high productivity.<h3 style="margin-left:auto;text-align:justify;">Quo Vadis, organic wheat?</h3>It should come as no surprise that with this expertise in protein content and disease resistance, Lidea has naturally focused on the selection of wheat suitable for organic farming. In fact, in organic farming, using genetics capable of maintaining a high level of protein, is predominant because with organic fertilization it is difficult to obtain a high protein content at harvest. We expect that in the near future, we will see an increase in the need of the organic seed sector for flour that can be used in the industrial sector, especially flour which is suitable for baking and even more for pastry-making.As a result, there will be a high demand for organic wheat with high protein qualities. In this context of a growing demand, Lidea is increasing its selection capacities in organic farming and through its multi crop expertise is equipped to offer wheat / protein combinations aiming to provide good protein levels in the sector.I am proud to add that the first improved wheat variety from this program, IZALCO CS, contains 100% Lidea genetics, and was selected and produced in France. These genetics are produced and sold within Europe for conventional and organic farming.
